When a shaft fitted part needs to be removed a hydraulic puller is used to get the job done. Shaft fitted parts can include bearings, pulleys and gears. Due to the hydraulic force used within a puller, the parts can be quickly separated, without being damaged which is an important element especially during maintenance.

How does a hydraulic puller work?
The pump regulates the flow of the hydraulic fluid within the puller building up the pressure, moving the cylinder forward and finally pushing the ram of the puller. The ram will then connect with the shaft of the component that needs to be removed, finally removing it.
The application being undertaken determines the correct type of puller needed. Factors such as inside and outside use can influence what type of puller to use. The puller, which has two or three legs, circles around the back or inside of the part, and together with a forcing screw centred up against the end of the shaft, pulls the part from the shaft.
The gear puller needs to be aligned with the shaft to fit tightly around the part to be removed, and the jaws need to be parallel with the screw to ensure that a straight pull occurs.
